Why You Should Take Your Kids to a Certified Pediatric Chiropractor

Why You Should Take Your Kids to a Certified
Pediatric Chiropractor

Many parents never think about taking their children to a chiropractor in Evergreen because their kids don't have back pain. But chiropractic is not based on symptoms but on the important relationship between the spine and the nervous system. One of the most basic principles of chiropractic is that dysfunction in the spine and its joints will lead to dysfunction within the nervous system and since the nervous system controls and coordinates all of the systems of the body, spinal dysfunction can have wide-ranging effects on the body's health. If we remove this dysfunction, then the body's normal function will be restored.

Children encounter more stresses than parents realize, starting with birth all the way up through adolescence. Abnormal positioning in the womb can jam the vertebra, which can lead to a longer, more difficult birth. Also, many interventions such as forceps, vacuum, and c-sections can place abnormal pressures on the spine. Many infants start out life with spinal dysfunction and this can cause colic, breastfeeding issues, allergic reactions, and sleep disturbances, due to the abnormal stress on the nervous system.

Furthermore, there are many developmental milestones such as learning to hold up the head, sitting upright, crawling, and walking. These are activities that are affected by proper spinal alignment and if it is abnormal, these milestones can be delayed or cause abnormal development.

Finally, children have many falls, sports injuries, playground bumps, carry heavy school bags, and sit all day in the classroom, which are all physical stresses to the growing spine and nervous system. If any of these spinal malpositions are not fixed, there will be continued stress on the nervous system and that can lead to many common childhood disorders such as recurrent ear infections, persistent sore throats and colds, colic/reflux, asthma, scoliosis, headaches, bedwetting and/or constipation, growing pains, and neurosensory issues such as ADHD and autism. These children's sensory systems are often over-stressed and chiropractic care can balance out their nervous and sensory systems.

However, a Doctor of Chiropractic can help fix these spinal malpositions by gently moving the spinal vertebra back to its normal position with specific, tailored adjustments. This in turn will remove the stress on the nervous system. Once spinal and nervous system function is restored, the child's natural, inborn potential to be healthy is restored and you have a happier, healthier child. Children who are adjusted regularly have stronger immune systems and respond to stressful situations much better. Chiropractic care maintains a healthy nervous system so that the child can be and act their very best. If children are taught young that going to the chiropractor regularly is a good way to stay healthy, just like going to the dentist is healthy for your teeth, then they will continue to go as adults, who in turn will be happier, healthier, and more productive. So if your child has experienced any of the above situations, they probably should be checked by a certified pediatric chiropractor so that they too can reach their highest potential.
